What Is the Inflation Reduction Act?
The Inflation Reduction Act is a significant piece of legislation that effectively reduces inflation and pushes forward America’s energy transition to a cleaner and more affordable future. Passed into law on August 16, 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act provides tax credits for residential customers who purchase and install solar panels before December 31st, 2032. It also includes rebates so that you can save on your energy bills every month while enjoying clean, renewable energy from the sun. The act enables consumers to receive up to 30% back on eligible expenses. There is no dollar limit either. You receive a 30 percent tax break on the costs associated with a residential solar system of your choosing.

The Details of the Credit
Depending on when your project is completed, there are different levels of incentives available as part of this tax credit. If your project is completed before the end of 2032, you qualify for a 30 percent federal tax credit. The credit then decreases slightly to 26 percent in 2033 and 22 percent in 2034 for projects completed in those years. It should be noted that battery storage-only projects begin accruing credits at the 26 percent rate starting in 2023. The good news is that all credits can be applied retroactively from 2021 if your project began before 2022 but was completed afterward.
Who Qualifies?
One great thing about this tax credit is that there are no income or location restrictions to apply! That means every customer of Better Tomorrow Solar who completes a project between now and 2034 could qualify for some form of incentive under this act! Once your project is finished, make sure to keep records of your receipts and any other paperwork associated with the completion of it so you can claim these credits on your taxes once they become available!
